MARDER
III Ausf M (SdKfz 138) - (Germany, WWII
The
Marder III Ausf. M (Sd.Kfz. 138) was the final and most refined version of
Germany's Marder III tank destroyer series, introduced in 1943. Built on
the reliable Czech-designed Panzer 38(t) chassis, it was armed with the
7.5 cm PaK 40/3 anti-tank gun, giving it the firepower to engage most
Allied and Soviet armored vehicles of the period. Unlike earlier variants,
the Ausf. M featured a redesigned chassis with a centrally mounted engine
and a lower, rear-mounted fighting compartment, improving crew protection,
reducing its silhouette, and enhancing combat efficiency.
