Sherman
M4 75 VVSS DV (USA, WW2)
The
M4 had a welded hull with a molded turret supporting the M3 75mm gun. The
turret's armament remained unchanged for most of the production run: use
of the M3 75 mm cannon with the M1919A4 coaxial machine gun and the M2
0.50 caliber mounted on the roof. The Model M4 was in fact the fourth
model to be produced from July 1942 at the Pressed Steel Car Company. M4
tanks were powered by the same R975 petrol engine as the M3 and M3A1, and
6748 were produced. It was used by the US Army.
